Even winter tomatoes. Although they are not as good as a just picked home or locally grown beef steak or heirloom tomato they are still better than nothing. I can't go 9 months of the year without tomatoes. I find if I buy field tomatoes and leave them on the counter to ripen for a few days they really aren't half bad.
I toasted a couple of my bagels for our lunch today and topped them with Canadian Back Bacon and thin sliced tomatoes.
I could not agree more. I have 17 tomato plants, that will carry me through the summer. It kills me to buy tomatoes at the store. Yet, I still must have them. Nothing pleases me more than a grilled seasoned burger patty, fresh sliced tomatoes and steak sauce. Heaven!
ReplyDeleteThis variation looks and sounds wonderful.
Mmm! Tomatoes! I wish the rest of my family liked them! They are so beautiful and tasty, I can't imagine someone not liking them!
ReplyDeleteI agree that nothing compares to a homegrown tomato! My grandmother grew her own tomatoes and would make tomato jam with them! Yummy!
