HAPPY CANADA DAY!!!!!!!!!!

Canada The Store

recently sent  me a couple of Canadian Maple Syrup products
to review for a Canada Day Post.

One was a bottle of  Jakeman's Pure Canadian Maple Syrup

What better way to showcase this delicious nectar
than in a truly Canadian treat -
Butter Tarts.

Butter Tarts are a family favourite
and never last long.

This rich flavoured maple syrup
added a depth of flavour to the
butter tarts.

Butter Tarts

1/2 cup soft butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
3/4 cup Maple Syrup
1 extra large egg - beaten
1 tablespoon vanilla
pinch of salt

Mix butter and brown sugar together.
Stir in Maple Syrup.  A pinch of salt.  Add beaten egg and vanilla. Stir well.

Fill tart shells 2/3rds full.

Bake in 400°F for 15 to 20 minutes.   Do not over bake.

Sour Cream Pastry

1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons sour cream
2 tablespoons ice water
1 teaspoon sugar
(substituted 1 tablespoon Maple Syrup)
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup chilled butter

Combine sour cream, water, sugar and salt in a small bowl.
Cut butter and shortening into flour, blending until mixture resembles coarse meal.
Add sour cream mixture and stir with fork until dough forms.
Turn dough out onto lightly floured work surface, and form into a ball.
Divide ball in half, and form into flat disk.
Refrigerate for 1 hour.

The second product was a
Maple Tea from
Canada True.

I must confess that although I love tea,

I am not a fan of "Flavoured Tea"
even when flavoured with pure Canadian Maple Syrup.

So I gave the tea to a friend
Leola (Leola's Studio) and
she very kindly agreed to try the tea and
give me her review.

She tried it a couple of different ways and her
favourite was a Steamer.

She steeped the maple tea in a steamed cup
of milk.

HAPPY   CANADA   DAY   WEEKEND

  1. The tarts look delicious. How many did you make from one recipe?
