I baked a bone-in ham for dinner on Wednesday night. Along with the ham we had a rich potato gratin (cooked in heavy cream). Other sides were squash and broccoli. We shared dinner with Clif and Barb and Erwin another of our neighbours. I didn't get a picture of dinner but I did take one of our dessert. The Hello Dolly squares a I baked back in April were a big hit then so I decided to bake them again.
The ham was over 7 pounds so we have been eating ham the last few days - Toasted Ham and Tomato sandwich, Ham and Eggs and last night the ham bone went into a pot of ham and bean soup. So that is the end of the Ham. (Thank goodness). I'm hammed out........
I love these little 'retro' bars! I haven't made them in years, but I'll have to make them soon. They call out to me everytime I look at that photo! :)

ReplyDeleteOh I wish you post recipes. I'd love to have the one for the potatoes gratin!
ReplyDeleteSorry, Kathy,I usually try and post recipes, but this morning I posted in a hurry before leaving for work.
ReplyDeleteLori, make sure you have someone to share them with. Otherwise you will have to eat them all yourself. And if you are like me, that is exactly what you will do. They are soooooo good.
Thank you Federica.
Hello Dolly bars, a delightful and sweet favorite. Beautifully photographed.
ReplyDeleteHello, those bars look yummy. I made a similar one yesterday. It had a cookie base though instead of the graham crackers. I'd love the recipe for the potatoes also.
