I missed the first Foodie Friday, but I am happy to be participating in the second one. Thank you Michael for hosting Foodie Fridays at Designs by Gollum.
Before leaving for work this morning I put a chicken stew on to simmer. All that need to be done when I got home was to make the dough for the Southern Style Dumplings and put the beans on to simmer with some bacon and chicken broth. I love simmered beans. Served with mashed potatoes. "Comfort Food" . Unfortunately, chicken and dumplings do not really photograph well, but they sure do taste good.
What I wouldn't give for a bowl of your chicken and dumplings, Ann! Perfect comfort food, especially since Dallas is supposed to be chilly this weekend - down below freezing in the mornings. Best kind of weather for chicken & dumplings. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's 11:24, I've just eaten a sinful slice of key lime pie, and all I want is this soup. It's beautiful, the kind of one pot meal that warms the soul. What divine dumplings, so plump and lush.
ReplyDeleteHow perfect you picked a Southern theme:)
ReplyDeleteI bet Moe loves this too..I keep saying it..and I know he knows..but he is very lucky:)
Oh I think this photographed just fine - I'm drooling lol. I love chicken and dumplings, such perfect comfort food. Kathy
ReplyDeleteGirl, I am passing my plate right on through the computer screen! Yum-O! What are you talking about not photograph well? This looks delicious! :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy FF on Saturday...
XO,
Sheila :-)
it looks terrific ann, and you are right, thats a hard one to pull off!
ReplyDeleteWe would adore this at my house.
ReplyDeleteAnn, I've never made the Southern style rolled dumplings ~ my grandma and mother always made dropped dumplings, so that's what I've always made.
You've given me the inspiration to try these. :) Thank you!
Yum...haven't thought about chicken and dumplings in ...forever. I used to cut my dumplings with a pizza cutter, makes all that rolling and cutting sorta fun. Your pictures are divine...and its snowing at my house right now so I'll have a big bowl please.
ReplyDeleteWhen I am cold I always think of chicken and dumplings to warm me from head to toe.

My son loves chicken and dumplings more than anyone I know. Poor thing, he nevers gets them from me. What he wouldn't give to have a mom that would cook for him the way you do.
ReplyDeleteI check out your blog almost daily to see what you have prepared. Truly amazing, I wish I were a tiny bit as talented in the kitchen as you.

Chicken and dumplings with hot cornbread (and a stick of butter :)) is my absolute favorite comfort food. They may not photograph well, but I bet the taste makes up for it. My first visit to your blog--thanks!
